Rosé 2011 AOC Ventoux

Grape Varieties: Cinsault, Grenache, Syrah (with yields of 35hl/hectare, handpicked).

Tasting Notes : A light pink rosé, with strawberry and cherry aromas. This red fruit theme continues with wild strawberries in the mouth and ends with a clean finish. Typically for the wines of Chateau Unang there is a lively start given by its natural acidity – resulting in much appreciated freshness.

Terroir : The grape varieties at Unang used for our rosé are positioned around the chateau itself, they benefit from good exposure to the sun ensuring ripe fruit. The soil is free-draining, clay-limestone soil (with the emphasis on limestone), at around 280 metres above sea level.

Wine-making : The Cinsault was left in contact with their skins before pressing, while the colour and fruit flavours of the Grenache, as with the small volume of Syrah, was absorbed while in contact with the skins in stainless-steel vats. Fermentation took place at cool temperatures (15-18 C) over two weeks.

Notes : Serve chilled, whenever the urge takes you – but best to be consumed over the coming months, either with food or by itself.
